Where TuskDB wins

Beekeeper is a pleasant, approachable editor, but it's Electron, and as of July 2026 its docs show no pgvector UI, no visual EXPLAIN, and no ERD. TuskDB is native Swift and AppKit and has all three, plus a run-current-statement default (Beekeeper's own top request is to stop it running every statement at once) and auto-reconnect that restores your exact view.

Where Beekeeper Studio wins

Beekeeper is free at the Community tier, works across twenty-plus engines, and is genuinely nice to use, with a paid subscription that converts to a lifetime license. If you want a friendly multi-engine editor and don't need Postgres-specific depth, it's a good pick, and TuskDB's native, Postgres-only focus is the opposite trade.

When to pick each

  • Pick TuskDB if Postgres is your database, you want native speed with pgvector, visual EXPLAIN, and an ERD.
  • Pick Beekeeper Studio if you want a free, friendly, multi-engine editor and Electron is fine with you.
